I don't know what to say. I've known Joe online for at least four or five years now. Sometimes he'd disappear for a month or so before I'd hear from him again, but it was so long this time. His obituary was the second thing to come up on google.

I can't believe I found out a friend was gone that way. I hardly know what to think, other than to mourn the loss of such a funny and unexpected friend.

Thank you for your words. Even if you don't feel you can capture all of him, I appreciate the tribute you gave: it's good to know that he affected other people in such a way.

I hope the victims have an easy recovery. But even more maddening than injuring three innocent people(two who were in wheelchairs and couldn’t jump out of the way) she had her 3 year old daughter in the car. What that poor baby must have seen and heard…… skidding sounds, jumping curbs and running people over, people screaming, sirens, strangers everywhere….and for what?….

He told me a long time ago, when he had to stop smoking and drinking, that if the doctors told him he was going to die soon, he'd go out immediately and buy a carton of Marlboros and a quart of Jack Daniel's, and finish them both off in a day...while eating three pizzas and a cheesesteak hoagie.

I would do that for you, buddy, since you never got to do it...but I'll work my way through one 'Boro and a shot of Jack, OK?

And when I come down for your service next week, I'll have that cheesesteak hoagie, and remember all the ones we wolfed down together way back when.

I knew Joe (or 'Sunibono') only online, as he was a fellow fan of sumo, and played fantasy sumo games online. He was known for writing witty comments in Latin. Having now read his obituary, I am sad that I will not have the chance to meet him in person.

As well as being missed by his friends in 'real life', he will be missed by his friends in 'cyber-life' too.
