Indictment handed up in murder of EHT man
MAYS LANDING – An Atlantic County grand jury indicted a man Tuesday, Sept. 22 on murder and weapons charges in connection with the Jan. 1 stabbing death in Atlantic City of an Egg Harbor Township man, Atlantic County Prosecutor Ted Housel announced.
Marco Jimenies-Garcia, 18, of Atlantic City allegedly stabbed Jose Edgardo Juarez at 6:39 a.m. on New Year’s Day.
Police responded to the call at 709 Warrena Road. When they arrived they found Omar Rojano, of Cape May County, holding his brother Juarez. Both men were bleeding profusely.
The two men were transported to the AtlantiCare Regional Medical Center, City Campus.
Juarez, 34, was pronounced dead at 7:19 a.m. from three stab wounds to the chest. One wound penetrated the heart, the others were to the liver and right lung.
Rojano, 29, sustained two stab wounds to the left shoulder and recovered, said Assistant Prosecutor Janet Gravitz, who presented the case to the grand jury.
A butcher knife, which was the alleged murder weapon, was recovered from a trashcan near the defendant’s home in the 500 block of Trenton Avenue in Atlantic City, Gravitz said.
No one has been charged with stabbing Rojano.
