NORTHFIELD – The Northfield Police Department is investigating a bank robbery that occurred about 10 a.m. Wednesday, Sept. 3 at the Sun National Bank, Tilton Road and Cresson Avenue, at Tilton 9 Plaza.

Police said the suspect entered the bank, went to the deposit slip storage area, approached the teller and gave her a note demanding money.  The teller turned over an unknown amount of mixed denomination of money without a bag.

The subject is described as a white male with tanned skin, age 35-40, between 5 feet 8 and 5 feet 10 inches tall, 160 to 180 pounds and a medium build.

He was wearing a pink USA baseball cap and black sunglasses, a multi-colored, long sleeve, button down vertical striped shirt and blue jeans. The suspect fled the area in a late model white Nissan Maxima with a straw colored license plate that is believed to be New Jersey.

Further information is forthcoming pending the outcome of the investigation by Northfield Police Detective Michael Buccafurni.

The same bank branch was robbed in February 2007 and in less than 12 hours Northfield Police Department made an arrest for the robbery.
