Motorist charged with criminal mischief, flips car after domestic dispute
EGG HARBOR TOWNSHIP – A township woman was charged with criminal mischief and numerous motor vehicle violations Tuesday after hitting the car of an acquaintance and then losing control of her vehicle at Balsam Lane and Tremont Avenue.
Amy Ochetto, 38, of Egg Harbor Township allegedly struck the vehicle of an acquaintance on Windwood Drive in the Cardiff section of the township around 5:30 a.m. Sept. 2.
Officer John D’Augustine responded to the scene and met with the victim, whose vehicle was struck while it was in his driveway, causing extensive damage to the vehicle and minor damage to the residence.
The owner, a 31-year-old township male, was not in the vehicle at the time it was struck.
Ochetto and the victim had been involved in a domestic dispute at the residence prior to the vehicle being struck, after which Ochetto fled the scene, police said.
A short distance from the initial incident, in the area of Balsam Lane and Tremont Avenue, police said Ochetto lost control of her vehicle, which left the roadway and overturned.
The Cardiff Volunteer Fire Company used the Jaws of Life to extricate Ochetto from the vehicle and the Egg Harbor Township Ambulance Squad transported her to Shore Memorial Hospital with minor injuries.
Ochetto was charged with criminal mischief and numerous motor vehicle offenses. Judge Robert Switzer released her on her own recognizance.
Officer Thomas Rocco is investigating the accident, with assistance by Officer James Ludwig.
