Police ID body found at Lakeside
MAYS LANDING – A man found dead in his Egg Harbor Township home Tuesday night has been identified through dental records as Howard Lawson, Atlantic County Prosecutor Ted Housel announced Friday, June 20. The death has been ruled a homicide.
Lawson, 63, was found dead at 5:52 p.m. Tuesday, June 17 in his home on Catherine Court in the Lakeside Condominium complex in the township’s Bargaintown section. Residents had reported an odor emanating from the home.
When Egg Harbor Township police arrived, they found Lawson’s decomposing body, according to the prosecutor.
The Atlantic County Prosecutor’s Office Major Crimes Unit responded, as did county Medical Examiner Dr. Hydow Park, Housel said.
An autopsy determined the victim died from blunt-force trauma to the head. The prosecutor said Wednesday morning that the death was a homicide.
Major Crimes Unit Sgt. Michael Quigley and Egg Harbor Township Police Detective Sidney Terrell are investigating.
