Local man's death ruled a homicide

MAYS LANDING – A man who was found dead in his township condominium Tuesday, June 17 is a homicide victim, according to law enforcement authorities.

Atlantic County Prosecutor Ted Housel announced Wednesday, June 18 the resident of the Lakeside Condominium complex in Bargaintown was found dead Tuesday night after neighbors reported an odor emanating from the Catherine Court home at 5:52 p.m.

When Egg Harbor Township police arrived to do a wellness check, they found a decomposing body. Housel said the Atlantic County Prosecutor's Office Major Crimes Unit responded as well as the County Medical Examiner.

On Wednesday morning, Medical Examiner Dr. Hydow Park performed an autopsy and determined the victim died from blunt-force trauma to the head, according to the prosecutor. Positive identification of the victim is pending, Housel said.

Major Crimes Unit Sgt. Michael Quigley and Egg Harbor Township Police Detective Sidney Terrell are investigating.
