Police catch suspected home burglar
LINWOOD – Police have nabbed the man they say is connected to several recent home burglaries in the area.
The Police Department responded 11:45 a.m. Thursday, June 5 to a report of a possible home break-in to find Timothy Bettis, 40, fleeing from the area.
Bettis was apprehended by Capt. Doug Carman, Sgt. Robert Allgeyer and Ptl. Ken Winkel and charged with burglary, theft, criminal mischief and possession of burglary tools.
After further investigation, Detective Sgt. John Hamilton and Detective John Moran additionally charged Bettis with six burglaries and thefts and three attempted burglaries that occurred in the city within the past weeks.
He was lodged in the Atlantic County jail in lieu of $85,000 cash bail.
