Ventnor man, 22, struck and killed on Longport Boulevard

EGG HARBOR TOWNSHIP – A 22-year-old Ventnor man who was walking on Longport Boulevard around 4:25 a.m. Friday, May 16 in the Anchorage Poynte section of the township was killed when he was hit by a pickup truck.

Robert Angotti Jr., 22, of Ventnor was walking west on Longport Boulevard in the westbound lane when he was struck from behind by a 2007 Ford F150 pickup truck driven by Frank A. Pettisani, 73, of Longport, who was also traveling west.

Angotti was pronounced dead at the scene by paramedics via telemetry with AtlantiCare Regional Medical Center.

The road was closed to traffic for about two hours while the accident was being investigated and cleared.

Assisting with the road closure were officers from the Somers Point, Longport and Ocean City police departments.

No summonses have been issued to Pettisani. The accident is being investigated by Master Police Officer II Kevin Devlin and Ptl. Brian Dickson of the Egg Harbor Township Traffic Safety Unit, in cooperation with Sgt. Keith Fane of the Atlantic County Prosecutor’s Office Fatal Collision Unit.
