School referendum passes in Egg Harbor

EGG HARBOR CITY – First came the approval for a new high school; now there will also be a new middle school.

Local residents voted, by a margin of nearly 5 to 1, in favor of allowing the school district to construct a replacement for the Fanny D. Rittenberg Middle School and make renovations to the Charles L. Spragg Elementary School.

In total, 641 city residents voted, with 519 voting in favor of the referendum and 122 opposed.

Ward 1 came in at 218-46, while Ward 2 came in at 301-76.

The total does not factor in absentee ballots.
