Charges dismissed against Pleasantville school board president
By LAURA STETSER
PLEASANTVILLE — Domestic violence charges levied against Pleasantville Board of Education President James Pressley were dismissed Wednesday morning July 11 and a temporary restraining order against him was lifted.
According to Attorney Jonathan Diego, who represents Pressley, Atlantic City Superior Court Judge James Jackson dismissed the charges after the plaintiff in Atlantic City failed to provide acceptable proof to his claim that Pressley threatened him with a handgun on June 19.
John Bunch obtained a temporary restraining order against Pressley following the incident and was in court Wednesday to obtain a permanent restraining order. Jackson denied the request and lifted the temporary order.
The alleged incident caused a shutdown of Pleasantville School District that day over fears that Pressley would appear at a school with a handgun after police had difficulty locating him following the complaint.
Pressley was arrested shortly after the search began and no handgun was found.
